Lipiano Castle is mentioned in historical chronicles as far back as 1195. Today, however, it represents an ideal location for spending unforgettable holidays immersed in art, history, nature and tranquillity, and offers a splendid setting for organising ceremonies, weddings or conferences. Luxurious apartments are available for our guests, or if preferred, you can choose a Bed and Breakfast or Holiday Home formula. The Castle also has a private swimming pool, large grounds, a car park and all modern conveniences and services. Nature excursions, museums visits or arrangements for special cultural events can be organised. Guests can also arrange with the Caldese Farm complex to use a golf course and horse riding facilities.
APARTMENTS “AL CASTELLO” - The original, and therefore the oldest part of the Castle nucleus consists of an ancient watchtower built around the 10th century and absorbed into the general structure over the course of time.
The entire building complex, enlarged during the 13th, 15th and 18th centuries, is composed of three floors as well as an attic and basement floor, to form a total surface area of 3900 m˛. The basement floor contains a marvellous cellar with a wide, brick vaulted ceiling and walls of squared stone.
A notable feature of the ground floor is the fine 16th century wooden staircase leading to the floors above and to the tower, which contains a perfectly preserved 15th century prison. A special feature of the first floor are the 17th century frescoes that decorate the entire ceiling of the reception hall, also known as the “Hall of the Angelic Dance”.
An ancient walkway runs all around the top of the castle providing a view of the entire surrounding valley.
HOLIDAY HOME “COL DI PAVONE” (Peacock’s Hill) - The property called “Col di Pavone” comprises 5 apartments equipped as a holiday home within an old, 16th century farmhouse with surrounding annexes and a private pool. Each apartment is completely independent and autonomous, and has two exclusive parking spaces in a private car park.
The entire property is surrounded by a fence.
The architectural style is typical of Umbro-Tuscan farmhouses. The accommodation is in fact built along the banks of a small stream that forms the geographical border between Umbria and Tuscany.
The group of apartments is situated in the hills at an altitude of c. 400 m, in a natural setting of meadows and woods, and about 400 m from the historical centre of the small medieval village of Lippiano.
The grounds surrounding the property, which includes a swimming pool, are composed of lawns, strawberry trees (arbutus), lavender, oaks and laurel hedges.
